Case Study: Pokémon Infographic Poster Design
This project focused on creating an engaging infographic poster about a specific Pokémon using Adobe Illustrator. The goal was to design a layout that felt authentic to the Pokémon brand while presenting key stats and details in a clean, visually appealing format. The main challenge was balancing strong visuals with clear information hierarchy.
Overview
Process
I began with ten layout sketches to explore structure and flow, comparing variations to find the most natural composition. After narrowing down my desired layout, I was then able to move forward into Illustrator.
Using PNGs of the Pokémon from both games and trading cards, I selected poses that matched its personality and fit the poster’s visual rhythm.
Audience testing played a major role. I shared drafts with Pokémon fans to identify issues and missing elements. Based on their feedback, I enlarged the type for readability, refined spacing, and added a regional icon to show where the Pokémon could be found. This addition noticeably elevated the final design.
Results
The final info graphic featured a bold central image supported by clean typography and cohesive graphics. Incorporating data such as height and weight into the main design made information easier to visualize and improved overall flow. The poster received positive feedback from fans and achieved strong marks for both creativity and communication.
Reflection
This project emphasized the value of feedback-driven design and audience insight. It showed how typographic adjustments, layout balance, and thoughtful details can transform a good composition into a polished, engaging visual. The final result also demonstrated potential for an expanded infographic series that could serve as a visual guide for Pokémon enthusiasts.
